December 31, 2009 - "The Ant and the Grasshopper" By Joseph Parish. I recently chanced across this little morsel of knowledge while browsing around the net and find it to be very entertaining. I would at this time like to share my adaptation of the Ant and the Grasshopper with my visitors. At first we will recite the original version of the Ant and the Grasshopper. Without further ado let us get to the fable. Click here

December 30, 2009 - "Vanilla Burn Remedy" By Joseph Parish. We all can appreciate the amount of pain that is usually accompanied with such an emergency. click here

Survival foods and the Chuck Wagon recipe
December 28, 2009 - "Survival foods and the Chuck Wagon recipe" By Joseph Parish. One of the best feedbacks associated with any bug out exercise is evaluation of the end results. In the case of our current mobile bug out situation we have discovered that much of the food which we so carefully stored away for an emergency is essentially useless to us under these conditions. Flavored Oatmeal
December 8, 2009 - "Flavored Oatmeal" By Joseph Parish. One of the best survival breakfasts that a person can have is oatmeal. Oatmeal provides a good nutritious meal for your body and the cost per serving is very budget minded. The only problem with oatmeal is that it becomes very bla after a while with the usual flavor. Winter Bug Out
December 4, 2009 - "Winter Bug Out" By Joseph Parish. Let us now continue our train of thought on using campers as bug out retreats or possible BOV extensions. As with any emergency scenario it is impossible for us to select the perfect circumstances and time when a crisis will occur. Generally these situations will be beyond our control. It could happen in the summer or during a time when ole man winter is kicking up a storm. Click here

A kit for every purpose
November 26, 2009 - "A kit for every purpose" By Joseph Parish. Most people do not realize that one type of first aid kit simply will not fit all situations. To be effective a first aid kit should be custom created according to the situation at hand. I feel that in general there are four basic types of kits that you could create. The actual contents will vary according to the season, your location and your planned use of it. No one can set a standard on any kit except the user themselves. Click here

Rodent control when going mobile
November 25, 2009 - "Rodent control when going mobile" By Joseph Parish. One of the primary concerns that you will have if you decide to join the mobile society will be the control of mice and other annoying rodents in your camper. When one considers the initial cost of these units, it almost insults your sense of value when you see how really cheap these campers are constructed. One would expect a bit more quality in both the construction and the workmanship, but we have to make due with what we have before us. Click here

A Quest for Freedom – Part 2
November 14, 2009 - "A Quest for Freedom – Part 2" By Joseph Parish. As we previously mentioned there are a lot of people who merely dream about doing what I am about to describe. The latest estimates indicate that there are currently more then a million full time mobile residences in America alone. Many of these people are elderly or retired while you can also find others who hold down a full time job. In our case our ultimate goal is to provide a small nest egg for some future land purchase. A Quest for Freedom – Part I
November 11, 2009 - "A Quest for Freedom – Part I" By Joseph Parish. It has been considerable time since I last wrote any new articles or posted to my web site and the primary reason behind this is that I am in the process of becoming a more mobile survivalist. My family and I have finally taken the plunge and stowed all our belongings in four 10 x 15 storage units and moved physically into our travel trailer. This interchange was not conducted without adequate consideration of how these various actions would affect my family and all members inputs were taken into consideration prior to finalizing the decision. In the end we all agreed that it was the best course of action for us to take. Click here

GPS Horror
November 9, 2009 - "GPS Horror" By Joseph Parish. As survivalists and preppers it is important for each of us to fully comprehend the various safety factors which come into play and are crucial functions of our well being. These functions of management are just as valuable as being properly prepared. Often times we are so intent and focused upon the mechanics involved in the preparations that we completely overlook any aspects that may concern the safety of our family and those of our friends who rely upon us. Obama declares swine flu a national emergency
October 24, 2009 - "Obama declares swine flu a national emergency" I knew it was going to happen soon. Now the door is wide open for martial law in America. President Barack Obama declared the swine flu outbreak a national emergency, giving his health chief the power to let hospitals move emergency rooms offsite to speed treatment and protect non-infected patients. Perhaps this is the onset for the October 25 warning. Who knows? Click here
October 25th, real or made up?
October 24, 2009 - "October 25th, real or made up?" I had noted the significance of the month of January for major changes to occur however I recently chanced upon this video at another survivalist location and felt it merited consideration by my readers. I am planning on going mobile tomorrow so I hope all holds off. If something is going to happen we will certainly know tomorrow. Click here

Natural disasters, Martial law, Economic Society Collapse, Domestic terrorism are just some of the things that can occur. This video shows some of the cheaper supply options that you can obtain. There are some pretty good alternative options if your willing to spend the extra money. MREs have at least a 5 year shelf-life. Click here

Backup Plan for Emergency Supply of water
October 13, 2009 - "Backup Plan for Emergency Supply of water" By Joseph Parish. I recently found myself in a very significant discussion with a new survivalist who was greatly disturbed about not having an adequate supply of food and water. We sat and discussed an assortment of ways to accumulate survival foods and the diverse types of foods at his disposal for use in his emergency kits. Finally we began discussing his necessary water resources. Click here

The Predator Threat during Survival Times
October 12, 2009 - "The Predator Threat during Survival Times" By Joseph Parish. We have formerly addressed the problems of residing in the vicinity of a prison when a major calamity threatens our well being. Now I would like to go one step further with that proposal and discuss attitudes. It has been alleged that during the collapse of the Bosnia infrastructure the cell doors of their prisons were opened widely allowing the liberation of many dangerous criminal elements upon society once again. It seems that the liberal segment of their society just could not see these anti-social rebels suffering. On the rampage once again were rapists, killers and who knows what else. With that said it should be established that one should make a mental note as to how close your retreat is in connection to your nearest penal complex. Click here

Long Life Food Storage
October 6, 2009 - "Long Life Food Storage" By Joseph Parish. Usually there are specific factors involved which determine how long stored foods will last in the food storage pantry. America armed, but guns not necessarily loaded
September 29, 2009 - "America armed, but guns not necessarily loaded" By Mary Foster. Bullet-makers are working around the clock, seven days a week, and still can't keep up with the nation's demand for ammunition. Shooting ranges, gun dealers and bullet manufacturers say they have never seen such shortages. Bullets, especially for handguns, have been scarce for months because gun enthusiasts are stocking up on ammo, in part because they fear President Barack Obama and the Democratic-controlled Congress will pass antigun legislation — even though nothing specific has been proposed and the president last month signed a law allowing people to carry loaded guns in national parks. Cash less Society Right around the Corner
September 28, 2009 - "Cash less Society Right around the Corner" By Joseph Parish. Someone please pinch me and wake me up! For the life of me I often think that I am living inside a surrealist nightmare. I have seen legislation passed by congress and the senate which I would never have imagined would never happen in America. Unfortunately, I am a living witness to this Orwellian nightmare actually occurring right before our eyes. One such example is President Obama’s health care reform program. Click here

Planning a survival budget
September 25, 2009 - "Planning a survival budget" By Joseph Parish. One of the most frequent complaints that I hear from survivalists and preppers is that they simply do not have the extra cash to properly purchase needed emergency supplies. This is simply an excuse as far as I am concerned. Every one of us can establish a sufficient supply of food and necessities over a period of time if we only plan our budgets accordingly. Click here

Bats as a means of controlling insects
September 24, 20009 - "Bats as a means of controlling insects" By Joseph Parish. Over the years most people have developed a destructive viewpoint regarding bats. These small creatures must be one of the most misunderstood animals within the United States. Much of this confusion results from fictional television and movie productions and general consumer ignorance of the bats themselves. Click here

Dilemma of Pelosi and the Perils of her Warning
September 23, 2009 - "Dilemma of Pelosi and the Perils of her Warning" By Joseph Parish. I was somewhat stunned when I recently listened to Speaker Nancy Pelosi's latest commentary involving American’s abilities to observe their constitutional liberties of free speech. I couldn’t believe my ears when I took note of how she compared the protests of the irritated patriots with the violent anti-gay rallies that San Francisco experienced in the late 70s. She naturally was referring to the assassination of several local San Francisco politicians. Click here

Old Fashion Navajo Fried Bread
September 22, 2009 - "Old Fashion Navajo Fried Bread" By Joseph Parish. It has been said that bread is the staff of life and I for one will not disagree with them. In the event of major disasters or emergency condition it would be highly unlikely that one could obtain loaves of bread at the local grocery store. It is also possible that you may not have electricity in order to bake your own bread. What would you do in this case? Would you go without? Click here

To be Prepared or not that is the question
September 21, 2009 - "To be Prepared or not that is the question" By Joseph Parish. Although there can be no argument towards the value of being properly prepared for any disaster or emergency one has to take a very close look at each scenario as it is being presented. The point I would like to make here is whether a survivalist should be more concerned and prepare for those situations that are more likely to occur rather then those which may or may not ever happen at all. If you were to prepare for the most likely emergency scenario that you can imagine you will probably have most of the equipment and supplies that you would require for the more unlikely crisis. Dollar Tree Spice Rack
September 18, 2009 - "Dollar Tree Spice Rack" By Joseph Parish. We all appreciate the fact that our survival food rations can quickly become pretty boring to consume after an initial period of time. The children will start to push their plates back in disgust while the adults fumble and shift the food around on the dinner plate, hoping they won't notice it's bland taste. Usually the best way to resolve a problem of this sort is the same way that you would with the meals which you prepare in your normal kitchen environment, add spices to them. Click here

Patriots to storm Washington; target out-of-control spending
September 11, 2009 - "Patriots to storm Washington; target out-of-control spending" By Chelsea Schilling. Just one day after President Obama tries to recapture the initiative in the health-care debate with a speech to a joint session of Congress, thousands of taxpayers plan to storm Washington, D.C., in a three-day event to take their fight against excessive spending, bailouts, growth of big government and soaring deficits to the front door of the U.S. Capitol. Solar Power Advantages for Survivalists
September 11, 2009 - "Solar Power Advantages for Survivalists" By Joseph Parish. As a survivalist I fully understand that in the event of a major crisis our usual power generating facilities may not be functioning as expected. In that sense, I am continually seeking out additional means by which I can create electrical power on my own. Having this ability to make my own electricity is not only beneficial at my normal home but would serve as a great advantage when it is functional at my distant emergency retreat as well. Click here

Anyone can catch fish for Emergency food
September 10, 2009 - "Anyone can catch fish for Emergency food" By Joseph Parish. When I go fishing I never seem to be able to catch those huge trout’s or bass that you always see in the outdoor magazines but one thing I can guarantee is that I can catch some pan fish. It really doesn’t matter where in America you happen to be there is some sort of pan fish just waiting to be caught. I have fished for them in New Mexico, Texas, New Jersey and Delaware. These small fish are located in every state of the union. Click here

Baking Fresh Pumpkin Seeds
September 8, 2009 - "Baking Fresh Pumpkin Seeds" By Joseph Parish. The season is certainly upon us at this time of the year. You would find that there are few foods available that offer such a vast number of uses as the pumpkin. From this useful garden product you can create delightful pumpkin pies, delicious soup or some tasty pumpkin bread. For decoration during the Halloween season you can use it to craft an interesting lantern or use the seeds as a wonderful snack treat. My wife and I did not grow any sort of pie pumpkin this year however a friend was kind enough to provide us with a huge selection to work with. Not being one to waste valuable food we decided to make good use of this produce. Click here

America: Freedom to Fascism
September 7, 2009 - "America: Freedom to Fascism (WAKE UP CALL!!!)" "The scariest film you'll see this year. It will leave you staggering out of the theatre, slack-jawed and trembling. Makes 'Fahrenheit 9/11' look like 'Bambi.' After watching this movie, your comfy, secure notions about America - and about what it means to be an American - will be forever shattered. Producer/director Aaron Russo and the folks at Cinema Libre Studio deserve to be heralded as heroes of a post-modern New American Revolution. This is shocking stuff. You'll be angry, you'll be disgusted, but you may actually break out in a cold sweat and feel a sickness deep in your gut; I would advise movie theatre managers to hand out vomit bags. You may end up needing one." (Todd David Schwartz, CBS Radio). Click here

Parents upset over 'leftist propaganda' video
September 6, 2008 - "Parents upset over 'leftist propaganda' video" By Lisa Schencker. A school principal has apologized for showing a video at an assembly that a politically conservative group leader is calling "radical, leftist propaganda." Children at Eagle Bay Elementary School in Farmington were shown a short video called "I pledge" on Aug. 28. The video opens with an image of President Barack Obama and part of a speech in which he says, "Let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other." The video then features celebrities making pledges about how they will help the president and the world -- and that's where some say the problem lies. Click here
